Baeside

Fenty Beauty Baeside Vivid Liquid Eyeliner Trio ($35.00 for 0.39 oz.) contains three, matte liquid eyeliners: coral (quite unique–there really aren’t many coral eyeliners!), lime green, and periwinkle blue. I had good luck with pigmentation and application with the two richer shades, but the pop of lime green was prone to cracking as it dried down and was much harder to work with.

Papaya Mama

Papaya Mama is a deep, pink-coral with warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had rich color coverage in one stroke, which applied evenly and smoothly over my skin. The color dried down to a transfer-resistant finish, and it did so without pulling into my fine lines. The consistency was fluid but didn’t seem watery, so it had good spreadability without losing its intensity. This shade stayed on well for 10 hours without fading or flaking on me.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have “super-smooth precision and glide” with a “hyper-vivid pop of color” in “one stroke.” The pigmentation ranged from shade to shade, but most shades were semi-opaque to opaque in one stroke with deeper, less pastel-neon shades having better coverage. The formula was very fluid (almost too fluid, as some shades seeped into fine lines as it was drying down) paired with a very thin brush-type applicator that had some flex but didn’t seem floppy.

Some of the lighter, more pastel-neon shades appeared streaky or “cracked” as they dried down. They can take a bit longer to dry down, which might have been why some of them settled and spread into my fine lines. Once they set, they didn’t budge or move around. They do not claim to be waterproof, and they are not waterproof, but some of the deeper shades–like the blues, greens, and plum stain.

I tried using the included applicator as well as separate, eyeliner brushes (brush-type and angled) to see if applicator improved, but it was about the same; using the included applicator often ensured better pigmentation but just as easily could over-apply product. I also tried some shades as eyeshadow bases/cream eyeshadows (particularly when they didn’t seem to work that well as a one-stroke eyeliner), but they often proved problematic with sheerer, uneven applicator or were just hard to diffuse along the edges. They didn’t take eyeshadow layered on top of that particularly well either, so I don’t find they were particularly usable as bases either.

Lime Feva

Lime Feva is a bright pop of lime green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. I found this one to have a chalkiness to it, which seemed to come through with how it cracked when dried down as a single-stroke eyeliner and in the slightly powdery (like literal chalk) consistency when I tried to blend out a larger block of it (to see if I could get more even application). It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, though it did not apply evenly and was hard to build up due to the uneven surface. Once it dried down, it was set in place and didn’t show any signs of fading or flaking over 10 hours of wear.

Skinny Dip

Skinny Dip is a bright pop of periwinkle blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one pass, which adhered evenly to my lower lash line and was fairly easily to maneuver along the curve of my lash line. The texture was smooth and fluid, though I felt like the applicator allowed for a bit too much product to get loaded onto it, so I did experience some of the color spreading and drying down in fine lines when I used the included applicator. When I used it with a separate brush, I had better precision and was able to apply a bit less and not have it get into my fine lines. After the eyeliner dried down, it wore well for 10 hours without fading or flaking on my lower lash line.
